Custom Lights

We strive to make sure you get the light, reflector and bulb that best suits your needs and budget. There are many different sizes, styles, ballast types, reflector designs........etc. We have divided the process into a series of steps that will help guide you through the process. In each step you will select the equipment that you want by clicking the "Add to Cart" button. You will be taken to your shopping cart where you can adjust the quantity if desired. Click the "Continue Shopping button to return to the page you were on. Then scroll down to and click on the "NEXT STEP" button. You will then continue to the next section.

Step 1
Choosing Ballast Style

There are two basic ballast styles. There are "Enclosed Ballasts" where the ballast is housed in the reflector. There are also "Remote Ballasts" where the ballast is located in a separate enclosure connected by a wire to the reflector.

What's the Difference?

Enclosed Ballast reflectors are generally smaller in size and thus are primarily intended for smaller gardens. Enclosed ballast reflectors are much heavier than a remote ballasted reflector so you must make sure your mounting is very solid and strong. The extra weight also makes height adjustments a bit trickier. Enclosed ballast lights are simpler in design with only the wall outlet wire to plug in.

Remote Ballast light systems are more versatile that enclosed units, with many different reflectors available to custom "tune" your system to your specific requirements. The remote ballasts connect to the reflector (and lamp) with a 15 foot (typical) 3 conductor cord. Allowing easier hanging and movement of the reflector. The ballast can in many instances be placed outside of the grow room which can help eliminate some heat if excess heat is a problem.

Enclosed Ballast Systems - These systems are complete lighting systems in which the reflector and ballast are integrated into the same metal housing. They are often referred to as "Mini Systems" because they are smaller in size and are of lower wattage.

Remote Ballast Systems - These systems have a separate ballast and reflector assembly. They are connected via a cord that is normally 15 feet long.
